MENTORING
SERVICES
The
student athlete mentor program at Arkansas State is a culmination of active
one-to-one relationships between former Arkansas State athletes, graduate
students, current student-athletes and community volunteers. These relationships are formed to foster
guidance, trust, and support for the academic and personal enrichment of
selected Arkansas State student-athletes. The Mentor program is intended to complement the mission of Student-Athlete
Academic Support Services.
The
Mentor program provides a proactive approach to assist student-athletes in
adjusting to college life and academics, and/or maintaining acceptable college
level academic performance. The goal is
to create and strengthen a sense of belonging and connection with the campus
community (past, present and future).
Mentors
act as teacher, tutor, and/or friend to student-athletes. The individual attention provided by a mentor
introduces the student-athlete to the following positive experiences:
INFORMATION
Mentors
share their knowledge, experiences and wisdom.
ADVICE

CHALLENGES
Mentors
stimulate curiosity and build confidence by presenting new ideas, opportunities
and challenges.
CONTACTS

contacts.
SUPPORT
Mentors
encourage growth and achievement by providing an open and supportive
environment.
GOAL
SETTING
Mentors
help protégés discover talents and interests and define and attain their goals.
ROLE
